AIDS is a symptom of excess cocaine usage.

Never before has the common cold been cured,
nor will it ever be cured,
because it's a symptom of a weakened immune system.

The Covid cult is sad, barf !

May Colin Powell rest in peace. If he hadn't lied for Bush on Iraq and its
"weapons of mass destruction" he knew weren't there, he might have been our
first black president.
The Bush administration was a corrupt as the Biden administration.
It was all about war mongering and enriching the bottom line of
companies who profit off war like Halliburton for example.
When I read that he died of Covid complications despite being "fully
vaccinated," I knew that the MSM would blame his death on cancer. Actually
they're right about that. Colin Powell's comorbidities were the main cause
of his death. But he probably would lived a while longer if Covid hadn't
come along — and Covid "came along" despite his being "fully vaccinated."
So now that the MSM has learned how to blame at least one death involving
Covid as mostly due to comorbidities, when are these hypocrites going to
admit that almost ALL "Covid deaths" involve people who have serious
comorbidities? Almost all were on their way out, Covid gave them the "push"
out the door but they were on their way to the door anyhow. (Note, I said
most.)
Of course, the MSM will never admit that, they're lying hypocrites and this
doesn't fit their satanic communist agenda. Deaths from gunshot and
motorcycle accidents are still called "Covid deaths." But their hypocrisy
doesn't make the truth any less true.
The media are already spinning this as a death where COVID
contributed.
Powell became the darling of the left stream media when he supported
Obama and later Joe Biden.
Prior to that he was attacked by the left and in particular the left
stream media.

They are all so fake and phony.

Quite possibly, although it would have been an uphill battle for him to have
been nominated by the Republican party. He certainly would have beaten
Hillary (and merit-wise, IMO should have).
When I read that he died of Covid complications despite being "fully
vaccinated," I knew that the MSM would blame his death on cancer.
His cancer (and trashed immune system from that) wasn't mentioned at all
in the initial reports, which was a major screw-up by the Media (all of them).
Actually they're right about that. Colin Powell's comorbidities were the main
cause of his death. But he probably would lived a while longer if Covid hadn't

Same would have been true (if not even sooner) even if he hadn't been vaccinated.
So now that the MSM has learned how to blame at least one death involving

Besides there being no proof of that "on their way out" RonB claim?

The top 3 comorbidity risks are High Blood Pressure, Diabetes and Obesity;
their respective changes to statistical life expectancy are:

Hypertension: -5 years;
Diabetes/type 2 diagnosed @ age 15: -12 years;
Diabetes/type 2 diagnosed @ age 45: -6 years;
Obesity (varies widely by severity; gender): -5 to -20 years

For the above, except for extreme obesity, all of these comorbidity
risk factors still have life expectancies of age 65+, which is roughly
the same as RonB's current age, so if he were to apply his attitude
towards others at himself, he should go dig his own grave this month,
before the ground freezes in Idaho, as he's "on his way out" too.
Of course, the MSM will never admit that, they're lying hypocrites and this
doesn't fit their satanic communist agenda. Deaths from gunshot and
motorcycle accidents are still called "Covid deaths." But their hypocrisy
doesn't make the truth any less true.
No, that claim has been proven false too: such deaths are reported in
VAERS, but as has been explained before, it is just the raw, unverified
reporting system: all reports undergo verification procedures during
post analysis, which is how the non-causal "false positives" are sorted out.

Listen up, dipshit. The "sell" for the vaccines, of late, is not that
they prevent Covid. It's that they greatly reduce the chances of
severe illness of death. I've made many posts about this in here,
with cites. Not everyone is as ignorant as you.

Here's yet another one:

"The available data show that such deaths are exceptionally rare. More
than 187 million people in the U.S. had been fully vaccinated as of
Oct. 12. Of those, 7,178, or 0.004%, had died of a breakthrough
infection, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention. Of that group, 85% were over the age of 65."

Fscking lying POS.
Colin had some serious illnesses that is true.
The vaccine is not 100 percent, nothing is, but it has been proven to
diminish the number of cases and for those who do end up with COVID
even after being double poked the survival rate is far better than
someone who gets COVID and has not been poked.

I am certainly pro vaccine, but I do have exceptions.
People who have had documented COVID infections and survive are top
of the list as they are probably in better shape, immunity wise, than
vaxxers.
However, most will, unfortunately suffer long term effects and this
may take years, if not decades to flesh out and understand.
Very young kids are another questionable entity.

It comes down to risk vs reward and sadly the outliers, ie:people who
die from the vaccine, are focused on and I get it, even one life lost
is one too many.

My personal belief is this is a genetically engineered germ and for
those whose DNA comes up in the slot machine, they are doomed with
little if anything that can be done.
To me, this explains why some healthy, really healthy, athlete type
people are dying.
It's the only thing that makes sense to me.

All speculation.

My big problem is how the virus was treated and reported on under
Trump vs Biden.
CNN, MSNBC and other stations had huge, screen wise, "death clocks"
ticking while Trump was President, literally logging every case and
they went on non stop about the pandemic.
Literally, to the day, Biden was elected, they moved to mini-clocks
and began to take the focus off the pandemic.
It was and is so obvious.

This is NOT a political issue.
It's a matter of life and death.
Party affiliation does not and should not matter.
The virus doesn't care, why should anyone else?

I think it's shameful that both parties are using this as a
bargaining pawn.
It's uncalled for.

I'm a card carrying conservative Republican but I am increasingly
becoming disenchanted with the Republican party.
I feel they are inept, disorganized and intimidated by Trump.
And as a country I think we have become caught up in idiotic liberal
policies like defunding the police, 14 different genders and so forth.

This is crazy stuff.

It's like the witch hunts of the 1600's in the US.

We are going to destroy our nation unless we mend our ways and return
to normalcy.
There are bad eggs in law enforcement for sure, but statistics, which
liberals love to ignore, show black on black violent crime is huge,
yet they focus on some black felon, career criminal who some crazy
cop, killed, and wrongfully for sure. Lock him up and toss the key
away. But, that is NOT where the real problem is.

Start with the democrat run Chicago and move to Portland, NYC, etc
and toss the miscreants in jail and toss the key.

FWIW, I don't like RINOs or most Repubs but these problems seem to
exist in Democrat run places at least the worst examples of them.

Liars lie. Especially when they're paid by Big Pharma to do so. Studies in
Israel (where forced "vaccine" rates are very high) show the opposite. So
just more of your bullshit. I'm not gullible enough to buy into it. Try it

The "vaccine" so-called is nowhere near 100%. Now they're only advertising
that it will lessen your symptoms instead of "you won't get the virus, and
you won't spread it." I've got news for these liars... most healthy people
who got Covid BEFORE the mRNA injections were available didn't even know
that they had it (they had to have bogus tests to know they were "sick"). It
was that mild. So the lie that the mRNA injections will lessen the symptoms
is just that — another lie in a long line of goalpost moving lies by these
liars.

The mRNA injection is neither safe, nor effective — as thousands upon
thousands of adverse reactions to it prove. It's a boondoggle (and a very
profitable one for Bill Gates and Big Pharma).

The risk of dying from Covid is very, very low for those who are relatively
healthy. For those with serious comorbidities (like Colin Powell) — he was
already dying, with or without the mRNA poison — the adverse reactions
(complications) to the mRNA poison probably shortened the time he had left.

It's all political. Panic porn to push the "great reset," i.e., the satanic

Agreed. The mRNA poison injection IS a matter of life and death. And the
people's right to not to allow its injection into their veins should not be
thwarted. What happened to "my body, my choice?"

Think about this. Supposedly the the mRNA injection is supposed to protect
you from serious effects of Covid-19 (which is lying bullshit, but for the
sake of argument let's pretend this is true). So what difference does it
make to the gullible whether I take the vaccine or not? You're supposedly
protected, right? Why does my "taking a risk" affect you? The "vaccine"
makes you safe, right? (Or doesn't it?)

The "vaccine" so-called is nowhere near 100%. Now they're only advertising

The problem is determining the comorbid effect.
Overweight for example.
WHAT constitutes overweight?

I have a cousin who is an ICU nurse and she tells me literally

It's all political. Panic porn to push the "great reset," i.e., the satanic
communist revolution. Unfortunately too many American have been brainwashed
in our public schools into reacting emotionally instead of logically — so
they fall for this panic porn bullshit, hook, line and sinker.
Minus the Satan part, I will say that the progressives are most
definitely are pushing a government control all platform.
It is a fact.
The frightening part of this is it's human nature to want "free
stuff". the problem is there is always a price to be paid.
For example in socialist countries medical care is rationed. Sure
It's free, but why do people come to USA and PAY for the care they
don't get in their own country?

Think about that.
Post by RonB
Post by charlie freak
This is NOT a political issue.
It's a matter of life and death.
Party affiliation does not and should not matter.
The virus doesn't care, why should anyone else?
Agreed. The mRNA poison injection IS a matter of life and death. And the
people's right to not to allow its injection into their veins should not be
thwarted. What happened to "my body, my choice?"
That is a valid point and I do not NOT support mandated vaccines.
FWIW I support the unborn as well.
Post by RonB
Think about this. Supposedly the the mRNA injection is supposed to protect
you from serious effects of Covid-19 (which is lying bullshit, but for the
sake of argument let's pretend this is true). So what difference does it
make to the gullible whether I take the vaccine or not? You're supposedly
protected, right? Why does my "taking a risk" affect you? The "vaccine"
makes you safe, right? (Or doesn't it?)
Every Vaxx has risks... You just don't hear about the others who got
Autism, Menaires etc.. From other vaxxes.

Scientific substantiation of these claims...is where?

FYI, the pregnancy one is a spin-off attempt which comes from a
standard operating procedure of human research trials: pregnant
woman are excluded in safety trials as a matter of course, since
they would be consenting for more than just themselves. The
reason why this exclusion isn't a violation of the "Justice" ethical
principle is because pregnancy is a temporary condition: they're
free to volunteer next year. Given the rapid initial rollout last year,
the exclusion was continued at that time, as they hadn't yet tested
for it. Because there's been "natural" experiments which have
since generated data, so the exclusion has since been dropped.

For the "obliterate immune system" claim, where's any evidence of it?
Its only shown up in propaganda claims.

Or that your narrative is strained (at best), since 88% of nurses said
back in a July survey that they were already vaccinated or intended to be.

That's before mandates were even started...plus the survey also found
that most (~59%) also said that they support vaccine mandates put in
place by employers. Here's the cite:

TL;DR: when Slimer said "many", it is actually a clear minority of that population.

Control. Obviously something in that mRNA poison that they desperately want

against your will (or you don't get to work or eat) is a control-freak's wet
dream. They want compliance to their bureaucratic dictates (small minded men
always want to be in control). Here's the situation... "Fully vaccinated"
people get Covid and die from it. A recent Israeli study showed that
somewhere around 80% of those who were seriously ill in hospitals from the
Delta variant of Covid had been "full vaccinated." That's why Israel has
removed their "green pass" from those who are "fully vaccinated" but don't
have the booster injection — the poison isn't working. So why are they so
desperate to get a "vaccine" (so-called) into your veins that they admit
does not protect you from the virus? It's insane. And it has nothing to do

already dying, with or without the mRNA poison — the adverse reactions
(complications) to the mRNA poison probably shortened the time he had left.
The problem is determining the comorbid effect.
Overweight for example.
WHAT constitutes overweight?
It's not that hard to determine. If have you have trouble climbing a flight
of stairs or taking a short walk (and are otherwise healthy), you're too
fat. Lose weight. (This coming from someone who knows he's too fat and
doesn't have to get all "philosophical" about it.)

I have a cousin who is an ICU nurse and she tells me literally
99.999999 percent of the serious infections and deaths of COVID
patients are not vaxxed...
This is a major NYC hospital and not some 3rd rate hospital in bug
fuck MS.
I don't believe it. And it doesn't jive with studies from Israel and other
countries. You do realize that the Covid tests for those who have not been
injected with the mRNA poison have a much lower threshold than for those
who have been "fully vaccinated." That smarmy, lying, bastard "gain of
function" Fauci changed the testing for the "vaccinated" in May because too
many of them were entering hospitals and testing positive for Covid. So, if
a "vaccinated" patient goes into a hospital with Covid-like symptoms, the
test is purposely skewed to NOT show Covid. In other words, figures don't
lie but liars figure. And Fauci can't move his lips without lying.

For a normal person who either can't afford health insurance or can't afford
the huge deductibles, health care has (for all intents and purposes) been
rationed for decades.

FWIW I support the unborn as well.

make to the gullible whether I take the vaccine or not? You're supposedly
protected, right? Why does my "taking a risk" affect you? The "vaccine"
makes you safe, right? (Or doesn't it?)
Every Vaxx has risks... You just don't hear about the others who got
Autism, Menaires etc.. From other vaxxes.
I know. My kids weren't vaccinated. I was never vaccinated for anything.
I'll let my immune system do the work. At some point it'll fail, that's
called being human. Meanwhile I wouldn't have played Russian Roulette with
my life by taking vaccines that can have serious side-effects. The supposed

The "vaccine" so-called is nowhere near 100%.
The mRNA based ones are running ~90%, which is a lot closer to 100% than
the historical track record of prior vaccines. For example, the classical
annual flu is generally considered to be having a good year if it hits 60%.

that it will lessen your symptoms instead of "you won't get the virus, and

I am certainly pro vaccine, but I do have exceptions.
People who have had documented COVID infections and survive are top
of the list as they are probably in better shape, immunity wise, than
vaxxers.
And yet they're ignored by that smarmy, little, lying bastard Fauci.
European research has found an infection survivor's antibodies to be
roughly equivalent to getting a single vaccination; France instituted a
policy where (infection +1) was considered to be equivalent to (2).
The policy approach in the US appears to be that a 2nd shot, even
if previously infected, is cheap insurance in a not supply-constrained
environment where one would have to worry about the ethics of
possibly denying another person their 2nd shot. This makes particular
sense when one recognizes that estimates of infected survivors who
have lingering "Long Covid" conditions are somewhat compromised
in their health, so they're effectively benefitting from getting the
equivalent of an early booster.
Post by RonB
Post by charlie freak
However, most will, unfortunately suffer long term effects and this
may take years, if not decades to flesh out and understand.
Very young kids are another questionable entity.
Are you talking the long term adverse effects for those who had Covid or for
those who were gullible enough to allow themselves to be injected with the
mRNA poison?
The "long term?" question is open for both, but since CoVid has been
around longer than the vaccines for it, the research data there is a bit
ahead: we already have serious indications that contracting Covid is
going to cause a significant percentage of the population to potentially
have chronic health conditions for the rest of their life, at significantly
higher rates than the rare side effects from vaccines.
Post by RonB
Post by charlie freak
It comes down to risk vs reward and sadly the outliers, ie:people who
die from the vaccine, are focused on and I get it, even one life lost
is one too many.
The risk of dying from Covid is very, very low for those who are relatively
healthy.
That mortality risk is still 1000x higher than the same risk from the vaccine.
Likewise, the "cost of survival" is much higher for the disease vs vaccine.
Post by RonB
For those with serious comorbidities (like Colin Powell) — he was
already dying, with or without the mRNA poison — the adverse reactions
(complications) to the mRNA poison probably shortened the time he had left.
Given his age, he probably received his vaccinations 6+ months ago.
As such, the "poison" was long since gone out of his system.

It goes back to education to the public at a level that they can comprehend.

For example, RonB was surprised above when he discovered that vaccines
don't provide 100% bulletproof immunity, but simply enable one's body a
better chance to fight off an infection.

That means that one still gets infected, but thanks to the vaccine, you beat
it faster / more thoroughly.

But since you were infected, it means that one will have a non-zero viral load
even though its generally be lower and for a shorter period of time - - its
still not a "ZERO", which means that even a vaccinated person has a chance
of contraction & passing it along to another (vaccinated or non-vaccinated).

Indeed, just how does RonB think that Powell got infected, if not from
someone carrying it that came into contact with him? Magic toadstools?

admit that almost ALL "Covid deaths" involve people who have serious
comorbidities? Almost all were on their way out, Covid gave them the "push"
out the door but they were on their way to the door anyhow. (Note, I said
most.)
Of course, the MSM will never admit that, they're lying hypocrites and this
doesn't fit their satanic communist agenda. Deaths from gunshot and
motorcycle accidents are still called "Covid deaths." But their hypocrisy
doesn't make the truth any less true.
It's a reminder that the vaccines have not gotten us entirely out of
the pandemic. We still need to take reasonable measures to slow the
spread of the virus.

May Colin Powell rest in peace. If he hadn't lied for Bush on Iraq and its
"weapons of mass destruction" he knew weren't there, he might have been our
first black president.

True statement.
Key phrase "reasonable measures".

The big problem is the pandemic has become politicized and is
literally tearing our country and pretty much the world, apart.
This is not a good thing.

Well, I'm not really a religious person although I do believe we are

Reason being, things are just too orderly.

Anyway, this may interest you. It offers a reasonable explanation for

I thought Jocelyn Elders' fondness for full dress uniforms was over the

The military has more generals than it had during WWII and it hasn't

I think it's time for people to stop saying that the United States won
the Second World War. They arrived late and let the British (by
decrypting the Nazi encryption) and the Soviets (with their direct
assault on the Nazis) do all of the heavy lifting. In fact, the Soviets
were the ones to march on Berlin, not the Americans. If anything, the
American role was mostly financial.

It actually bothers me how Americans seem to teach their people that
they single-handedly defeated the Nazis.

It was an Allied victory in Europe, for sure, but America's contribution
was mostly in ensuring that the Soviet Union gets the supplies it needs
to fight the Nazis. As terrible as their army was, their numbers were
huge and they were much better equipped for the climate so it was just a
matter of time before the Soviets beat the Nazis regardless of whether
the Americans supplied them or not. It IS possible that the Nazis would
have defeated the Soviets had they continued to pummel Moscow and not be
distracted by Stalingrad though but I believe they needed to capture the
oil fields to the South of there anyway. I don't believe, like most do,
that the attack on the shores of Normandy was as significant in the
grand scheme of things as the Nazis retreating from the Eastern front.

Of course, Hollywood has it own opinion and, as we all know, Hollywood
and the American media is never wrong about the lies it tells.

Lt. Col. Stu Scheller is one of the few officers of that caliber. Now
we have generals worrying bout their manicure and the newly minted
admiral. I thought Jocelyn Elders' fondness for full dress uniforms
was over the top but Levine jumped that shark.
The military has more generals than it had during WWII and it hasn't
exactly won a war since that one. Flynn is the only one I respect and
he got railroaded by a vindictive Obama.
There was that little war in the Pacific... If the Soviets had the
Japanese kicking down their backdoor they would have had a problem. The
Russo-Japanese war was a wakeup call for the Russians. Those little
yellow guys weren't supposed to win.

iirc, the BEF went home in rowboats at the beginning of the war and
France found happiness under Petain. Poland thought the Brits had their
back, a major mistake.

Letting the Soviets march on Berlin was a brilliant idea. How many years
of communist misery did that bring to eastern Europe?

Just another in the line of government mouthpieces pissing down your

I agree. However, the Soviets would have had the problem back in 1940 or
1941. After that, they were prepared to fight a war on two fronts even
if their military was undisciplined and relied on sheer numbers to triumph.
The
Russo-Japanese war was a wakeup call for the Russians. Those little
yellow guys weren't supposed to win.
How long did it take for the Japanese to destroy the totality of the
Russian navy? Twenty minutes?
iirc, the BEF went home in rowboats at the beginning of the war and

The British probably DID have their back but they overestimated their
military strength in comparison to Germany's. Let's not forget that
Germany had been preparing for this World War for years and that the
rest of Europe was still shaking off the effects of the first global
engagement. It only makes sense that Germany had a significant advantage
during the first few years of conflict.

They didn't _let_ them, as far as I know; they didn't have a choice as
the Soviet Union was making progress a lot faster than anyone had
anticipated.

I think Britain knew exactly where it stood and was hoping it would have
time to catch up. They and France were screwing around with the Phoney
War. France did try an offensive while Germany was occupied with Poland
but lost interest in a few days and went home. Poland may or may not
have come out a lot better if it wasn't so huffy about the Danzig
corridor and Danzig in general. They had Gdynia and didn't really need
to keep stirring the soup in an area that was 99% German.

The Brits were planning to invade Norway, but Germany got there first. I
think there's a lot of selective memory in Norway, or I should say in
most of Europe. Even Poland said 'Open season of Jews? Yahoo!'.

Britain and France offered up thoughts and prayers to Finland in lieu of
doing anything. It was the Winter War that got Hitler thinking if a
bunch of guys on skis could kick Soviet ass maybe there wasn't much
strength there.

Hitler also had strange ideas about Britain. He thought Britannia could
rules the seas and he would concentrate on the land. Germany, like
Russia, isn't in a great location to become a sea power. As for France
there was going to be payback for Versailles.

Not entirely. France's offensive was fairly successful but only because
most of Germany's army was busy crossing the Ardennes that France
thought was impassible to tanks. Once it was crossed, France had no
chance of defending itself. It's similar to how Mehmed II circled
Constantinople's defenses to end up in the waters right outside the city.

I honestly think that Poland would have fared better had they just

If an area is already 99% German and the only reason it is in your

World War, it only makes sense that you don't act too arrogant about it
being yours.

Jews aren't too good at building a good opinion of themselves. It might
have to do with the fact that the Torah tells them that every non-Jew is
awful, that Jesus is boiling in excrement and that we will all be their
slaves eventually. Of course, that's just my hypothesis and it's quite
possible that their money laundering operations and insistence on
corrupting every government that accommodates them has something to do
with it.

The French are such pussies that I have trouble imagining they could
fight their way out of a paper bag. They're fantastic whiners but not
too good at doing anything other than produce amazing culture. Germany
COULD have an amazing Navy but only if they had immediate access to the
Atlantic the way that Britain does. Otherwise, they are immediately
surrounded by potential enemies the moment their ships enter the water
in the Baltic.

That's been my opinion but it isn't a popular one. Hitler was heavily
influenced by geopolitics and I don't believe he was altogether wrong. A
prime objective was pushing the Soviets east of the Urals so at least
there would be a defensible border. Then there was the drive to the oil
fields. I facetiously said there was also the desire to snag some nice
warm beaches on the Black Sea. Winter in Germany can suck.

At least at the beginning I think Germany would have happily built an
autobahn with no exit ramps across the corridor and went about their
business. Loading everything on boats to get to the other part of your
country is tedious.

Even though I'm Polish, I honestly think that it is pretty ridiculous
the way they gave that area to the country after the First World War's
completion. I get it, Austria-Germany lost the war and they didn't have
a say in the negotiations but they essentially gave a German-speaking
area to the newly-formed Polish country to make sure that the former has
access to the Baltic and didn't think there would be repercussions in
the long run? Poland and Germany could have made it work, especially
given the fact that one was part of the other for so long, but it seems
that we had a very arrogant leader at the time.

Czechoslovakia was a prime example of WWI stupidity. Even Poland was
involved when they carved that turkey up. Germany wanted Sudetenland,
Hungary wanted the ethnic Magyar area in the south, Poland wanted
Zaolzie, and the Slovaks wanted their piece.

Even the name of the country was a joke. A friend of mine was a Czech
and didn't care much for Slovaks. Culturally and genetically Czechs lean
more toward the German side.

Stash and Fritz could have sat down over some beer and wurst and worked
it out but when you get governments involved it all goes to hell.

Well never happen because it is a spiritual war between Satan (and his
followers) and God (and his followers). What are we supposed to do when a
Nazi Germany, a Soviet Russia, a Red China, an ISIS or someone like Pol Pot
rears their hideous heads? Sing kumbyyah and hope they don't kill us and our
children too painfully?

Catholics call the Church on earth the "Church Militant," because there is a
constant spiritual (and physical) war waged by Satan to take our souls.
Paradise is what you earn when you "fight the good fight" and die in grace.
It's not going to happen on earth. Ever.

The guy is clearly a fraud and has beliefs that are contrary to what
Catholicism teaches. They did a wonderful job making him look like the
better of two choices in The Two Popes but the reality is that if you
know what doctrine is and what he preaches, you'll notice that they're
at two polar opposites.
I'm a dinosaur. Pius XII was alive when I received my first communion
and Fulton J. Sheen was arguably the first televangelist. Then came
hootenanny masses and other theological novelties. I've said it before
but they read the Syllabus of Errors and decided to try them all.

The whole situation stunk. A pope "retires" but somehow retains the title
"Pope Emeritus?" What really bugged me about Francis, from the beginning,
was his continually bragging about his humility. Which was clearly bogus
— and (at first anyway) the MSM (like good little puppets) kept pushing the
"humble" narrative. I could see in this man's eyes that he definitely was
NOT humble. The whole pope "changeover" felt like a coup.

I don't know how Ratzinger ever got elected. If you look at his years in
the CDF he was a conservative and traditionalist. Even there he wanted
to step down and become a researcher in the Vatican Library.

I think he saw he was fighting a losing battle and wanted out to spend
the rest of his life in contemplation and study. His resignation for
health reasons was ironical. At 94 he holds the longevity record among
popes and former popes.

Men, without God, are inherently cruel.
Men with God are no better.
In either case, only a small fraction are "cruel". However, a large
fraction are "greedy".
Evelyn Waugh was reportedly a real bastard.

"There is a well-known story about the novelist Evelyn Waugh. He was
once very rude and his hostess remonstrated: “How can you behave so
badly – and you a Catholic!” Waugh replied: “You have no idea how much
nastier I would be if I was not a Catholic. Without supernatural aid I
would hardly be a human being.”

May Colin Powell rest in peace. If he hadn't lied for Bush on Iraq and its
"weapons of mass destruction" he knew weren't there, he might have been our
first black president.
I knew nothing of the man but hated him because of his insistence that
"Colin" should be pronounced "colon." On the other hand, it kind of
makes sense considering how much bullshit came through the man.
I kind of think a man has right to request that his name be pronounced
correctly. My dad lived in Weiser, Idaho for about 15 years. Pronounced
"wheezer." My great aunt, who was still alive at the time, INSISTED that the
city's "correct" pronunciation was "why-zer" because that's how it would be
pronounced in Germany. Didn't matter how EVERYONE in Weiser pronounced it,
it HAD to be "corrected."

Reminds of when I was a kid and my father worked in an auto parts store.
Some customer came in to buy a part for a Volkswagen. My dad used the word
Volkswagen (pronounced as Americans and Volkswagen ads pronounce it) and the
customer went off the handle and started yelling...

"It's either FOLKSwagon or Volks-VAH-GEN NOT Volks-WAGON!" Gee, sorry,
just going by the Volkswagen ads. Chill, dude. (Actually my dad just sold
him the part — and probably wiped the froth off the counter.)

As far as Colin Powell's accomplishments... I don't know how good of a
president he would have been (probably just another Neo-Con) but he WAS
popular and his lies blew all chance that he would be president.

Ever been in Weezer? It has two speeds; insane during float season and
dead.

Every area has a few of those. It's amusing to hear what a tourist can
do with Worchester.

Pronounced "wooster," I think. Is Weezer a real place?

Weiser, Idaho has one huge event each year. The Fiddle Fest and, for some
reason, it's combined with motorcycles (kind of like a smaller Black Hills
gathering). The combination of fiddles and motorcycles seems to work out
okay.

About the only other noteworthy thing about Weiser (I liked the town anyhow)
is that Walter Johnson once played for their minor league baseball team.

I've never been to the fiddle fest. I can't imagine it hosting a big
event. The Colonial motel is nice but it isn't big and iirc the one with
the RV park is even smaller. I suppose you can commute from Boise.

That time in June would be when a lot of people are trying to find the
Snake too.

Big crowds by Weiser standards anyhow. They camp in tents or RVs in the
parks, in farmer's fields and on private and public lawns.

I think some folks also rent out rooms or their whole house for the Fiddle
Festival also.

http://www.weisermuseum.com/Fiddle-Week.html

And I'm sure a lot of folks stay in Payette, or Fruitland or Ontario, Oregon
also.

(I don't know if it's as a big of a deal as it was in the 80s and 90s when
my dad lived there.)

May Colin Powell rest in peace. If he hadn't lied for Bush on Iraq and its
"weapons of mass destruction" he knew weren't there, he might have been our
first black president.
I knew nothing of the man but hated him because of his insistence that
"Colin" should be pronounced "colon." On the other hand, it kind of
makes sense considering how much bullshit came through the man.

That's kind of what I thought. Just realized I automatically pronounce the

when I see one l. (Like Colin Powell.)

If I buy an electric car in the next few years (unlikely before 2035, to
be honest), I'll go with whatever Chevrolet is offering. My wife is
against it as she rightfully believes that every American product is
garbage but GM's been doing the electric car for much longer than anyone
else and as such, I think they have the greatest chance of getting
everything right.

I'm sure Ford will be competent enough but we'll see.

GM's been doing the electric car for much longer than anyone
else and as such, I think they have the greatest chance of getting
everything right.
Bad logic. They've been making cars for about a hundred years, and
are no where close to "getting everything right".

By 2035 my idea of an electric vehicle might be a mobility scooter. I
don't see a new car in my future unless I get to the point where I can't
ride bikes and want something to spice up my life.

Yeah I know the Mustang Mach-E is a little quicker off the line than a
Mach 1 but it still looks like a soccer mom ride.

The only thing I'm worried about with the Ford electric vehicles is
their reliability. The company is excellent at making something look a
lot more solid than it is and I would have a lot of trouble considering
a purchase from them since the chances of one of their cars
spontaneously combusting is very high given their history. Still, I
might be proven wrong and there's a chance the company wants to improve
its terrible reputation.

I've had an eclectic mix of vehicles. The F150 I bought in '86 is still
in the driveway and runs although I don't use it much. I had a '73
Mustang but its demise was from a head-on one foggy morning. I switched
to Camaros and Firebirds because Ford went to that Mustang II POS in '74.

I had a '62 Falcon Futura that I really liked too. White with a black
vinyl top, it looked like a baby T-Bird. After all the '65 Mustang was
just a restyled Falcon. The Falcon had some Jeep DNA and was a great
winter car.

So you exclusively drive Americans? I've had one and there will be no
second. I'm an Infiniti guy from this point on. I know that their
vehicles aren't the best but they're a perfect compromise of price and
quality for me.
No that was just a few highlights. I've owned an Austin-Healey which was
enjoyable if primitive. I had a Fiat Spyder which was pretty but
completely undependable. After I got tired of driving loaners while they
attempted to fix it I traded it for the Mustang.

When I was married I bought an Audi 100LS. German engineering didn't
impress me but I guess they ironed the bugs out. When we split up my
wife got the Audi and I got the Lincoln and Healey. She traded the Audi
for a Rabbit which was a step up.

Then there was a Geo Metro which was a rebranded Suzuki. I was looking
at a Suzuki hatch about when their car business went down the toilet so
I got my first Yaris. That was totaled after an unpleasant incident with
a snowplow in 2011 and replaced with another one. When I took the 2011 in
for the airbag recall last year I saw a leftover 2018 on the lot. The
price was right so I moved up, knowing that was the end of the line for
the Yaris hatches. Even then the sedans were rebadged Mazda 2's.

Bikes are the same. The current herd is one Harley and two Suzukis. I
had a Yamaha but it was functionally similar to the Harley.

Of all of them the two that i had the most trouble with were the Spyder
and the Audi.

Why not just call it "The Nazi Vehicle" and be done with it? :)
Hitler said 'design a vehicle for the common man' and the Volkswagen was
born. Obama said 'build a car' and we got the Chevy Volt.
What's the range of those things? In Montana you probably can't get from one
town to the next. And the cost of using fossil fuels to produce the "green"
energy to charge the things is higher than just using the fossil fuels. More
small-minded, emotionally-driven stupidity.

In NYC where highways like The Cross Bronx Expressway are bumper to
bumper 24x7 the tow companies are going to make a fortune towing dead
EV cars.

I've read a number of articles regarding the ENTIRE impact to the
environment for a typical EV, from start, meaning mining and building
the batteries, to keeping them charged to ultimately disposing /
recycling of the batteries and with the current technology the
numbers for EV simply to not add up.

There is more to pollution than just a fossil fuel powered motor
spewing gases.

This will certainly improve as technology advances but for now, EV is
problematic.

Here is one such article.

The Volt has an IC engine to keep the battery charged. For straight
battery power I think it's good for 60 miles (at 30 miles an hour.) That
would get me down to Hamilton if nobody ran me off the road.

I saw a video where a female talking head was proclaiming the virtues of
an electric car. A guy started walking her back to where the energy came
from. She obviously thought it was magically charged by the electric
fairies but he was patient. The ultimate answer was the coal powered
generating plant of the local utility.

I'll stick with what I have. The Yaris usually gets around 35 mpg with a
cruising range of 350 miles before I have to find a gas station.

Michael Moore (of all people) has presented a movie "Planet of the Humans"
which shows how bogus the "green" industry really is — at the least the
first 40% or so of it does. At that point the movie appears to veer off into
an overpopulation screed and that's where I quit watching. That "problem"
(so-called) is already solved. Not a single nation in the world is
producing enough children to reach replacement level (2.1 children per
couple). Most nations are much lower than that. So, so much for that BS.

The movie is on YouTube...

I think it has that same clip that rbowman mentions, a woman presenting the

May Colin Powell rest in peace. If he hadn't lied for Bush on Iraq and its
"weapons of mass destruction" he knew weren't there, he might have been our
first black president.
I knew nothing of the man but hated him because of his insistence that
"Colin" should be pronounced "colon." On the other hand, it kind of
makes sense considering how much bullshit came through the man.

You're entitled to that opinion, but the point is that France was the
main country trying to stop Bush in the U.N., necessitating the
"coalition of the willing" that he put together. And yet France's own

Bayoneting babies along the way... When Toynbee and the rest of the
fiction writers at Wellington House dreamed that one up I doubt they
thought it was be so timeless.

Of course the Kuwaitis who were slant drilling into Iraq's oil fields
were blameless.

Bayoneting babies along the way... When Toynbee and the rest of the
fiction writers at Wellington House dreamed that one up I doubt they
thought it was be so timeless.
Of course the Kuwaitis who were slant drilling into Iraq's oil fields
were blameless.
Do you have any cites for those statements (honestly asking, I'd like
to look into it)?

Bolton, the perennial hawk, had his fingerprints all over that one. nce
again, who gives a fuck? The smart move is to stay out of the middle
east, let them sort it out among themselves, and do business with
whoever is left standing.
I certainly think we've shown an inability to "nation build". I would
hope that Biden and future presidents think really hard before
engaging in such a war.

The number of wars that had to be
fought is a very short list and that wasn't one of them. Shrub was
trying to show Pop how it was done.
So what would have happened to Iraq? The anti-war people never had an
answer for that.
The answer is 'Who gives a flying fuck?'
So, we sanction them and control their airspace for over a decade, and
there's no real end in sight to Saddam continuing to abuse them, and
we are supposed to act like we have no responsibility to them?
You use 'we' rather promiscuously. The US should not be involved in the
middle East in any way shape or form. When Iraq was attacking Iran
Hussein was more or less a 'good guy'. If he used chemical weapons they
likely had 'Made in USA' stencils.

Pop''s war was another crock of globalist shit.

Which part?

https://www.nytimes.com/1997/12/23/opinion/IHT-its-time-to-think-straight-about-saddam.html

After thirty years the truth isn't going to suddenly surface. The media
has problems with truth after thirty days. At the time there was a
strong suspicion that Kuwait, which was exceeding its production quota,
was slant drilling. There was also the suspicion that Hussein had been
given a green light.

It wasn't a popular idea. Congress was lukewarm and I remember GHWB
saing in his smarmy voice that he was going in, authorization or not.
Congress caved.

Bush got his payback by the recession triggered by the oil price
increase. 'It's the economy, stupid'. Slick had a way with words that
might come back to haunt Biden.

As for Wellington House:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wellington_House

They had quite a cast of well known authors churning out propaganda.
Today they would all be on Facebook.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Committee_on_Alleged_German_Outrages

"However, the claim by revisionists that some of the testimony is not
credible is entirely legitimate. The Committee included in Appendix A
depositions it should have been much more skeptical of, particularly
from Belgian soldiers. Critics repeatedly cited as the most egregious
accusations a claim by a Belgian soldier that he had witnessed a mass
rape in central Liège and the claim of two civilians in Mechelen that
they saw a German soldier spear a child with his bayonet as he marched
past."

That's the tl;dr text of'the Bryce report. The dog ate the depositions
so historians get to argue whether it was made up out of the whole cloth
by the novelists on the staff.

What can't be argued was the use of propaganda. Reportedly Goebbels was
very impressed and jumped onto the new radio and film technologies to
spread the word to the masses that didn't read newspapers.

Color me cynical, but every time Oceania wants to demonize Eastasia I
swear they drag out a tattered copy of the Bryce report for juicy
propaganda.

Governments lie. Get used to it. When it doubt assume they're either
lying or completely clueless and making it up as they go along.

With the world seeing how well democracy works I doubt they want to
play. The US has never had the stones to be an imperial nation. I'm not
saying that's a good thing but if you're going to do it, do it right.
The hell with their hearts and minds. Johnson, in a rare moment of
candor, reportedly said 'IF you have them by the balls their hearts and
minds will follow.'

Even worse than nation building is nation destroying like Clinton & Crew
did for Libya. No, Gadafi was not a nice man but he did heep a lid on
the factions trying to kill each other.

We also supplied Iraq with logistical support and military intelligence. And
still the Iranians beat them back (basically with "sticks and stones"). What
a lot of Americans don't realize about Iran is that it is NOT Arabic, it's
Persian. When you attack Persians they unite. When you attack Arabs they
turn on each other.

Aryans are like that... The term went out of favor for some reason but
Indo-Europeans have a history of kicking ass and taking names. Somewhere
the heritage went badly off the rails and now kissing ass is more like it.
